Glenn Maxwell, a batsman for the Punjab Kings, was disciplined severely by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday for violating the IPL code of conduct during the match against the Chennai Super Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh. After losing four straight games this season, Chennai fell to ninth place in the IPL 2025 points table, while Punjab won the match by 18 runs to stay in the top four.
Maxwell's offense is classified as Level 1 under Article 2.2 of the IPL code of conduct, which deals with misusing fixtures and fittings during a game. The player acknowledged the violation and agreed to the Match Referee's punishment, according to the IPL's official statement. Decisions for Level 1 violations are final and binding in accordance with IPL practice.
Glenn Maxwell in trouble:
The press release released by IPL stated, "Glenn Maxwell admitted to the Level 1 offence under article 2.2 (abuse of fixtures and fittings during the Match) and accepted the Match Referee's sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding."

In contrast, PBKS batted first in the IPL encounter and amassed 219/6 in the 20 overs they were given, primarily because of a spectacular century from youthful opener Priyansh Arya, who hammered 103 off 42 balls. Arriving at number six, Maxwell was caught and bowled by Ravi Ashwin for a just one run off two balls. The Australian made amends with the ball, taking the crucial wicket of Rachin Ravindra, who was stumped after adding 36 runs to the total, despite his lackluster batting performance. He finished with stats of 1/11 after bowling just two overs.
In pursuit of the formidable total, Shivam Dube and Rachin Ravindran hit 36 and 42 runs, respectively, while opener Devon Conway retired out for 69 off 49 balls. Even though MS Dhoni scored 27 runs off 12 balls in his final appearance, it was insufficient to lead CSK to victory. As a result, CSK suffered their fourth straight defeat of the season.
