IPL 2025: Why is Sherfane Rutherford Out of Playing XI Squad in RR vs GT Match 47?

Sherfane Rutherford will not play for the Gujarat Titans (GT) versus the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in today's Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) match. During the coin toss, GT captain Shubman Gill verified the news. No explanation was given as to why Rutherford was not present. It is only reasonable to assume that he was ill.

Afghanistan cricketer Karim Janat has been given a debut by GT in Rutherford's place. Rutherford has scored 201 runs at an average of 40.20 and an SR of more than 150 in the eight games in which he has appeared. Rutherford, who was purchased at the auction for INR 2.6 crores, will be essential to GT as the competition nears its conclusion. After winning the toss, RR captain Riyan Parag decided to field first.
