When Royal Challengers Bengaluru finally won their first IPL championship in 2025, Siddharth Mallya, the son of former RCB owner Vijay Mallya, came down in tears in a moment that perfectly encapsulated the emotional weight of an 18-year wait. The cricketing world, including the Mallya household, celebrated the team's title drought last week after it was frequently ridiculed for failing to win despite having star-studded rosters over the years. Shortly after RCB's thrilling victory in the final, Siddharth Mallya posted a touching video on Instagram.
One of the most adored teams since the beginning of the lucrative league in 2008 is RCB. But even though they had great players like Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, and Virat Kohli, they were unable to win a championship. After defending 190 against PBKS on Tuesday, RCB was crowned the new champions, ending the title drought that had lasted for over 20 years. Since the Mallyas were formerly tightly linked to the team, the win held personal significance for them. The 38-year-old appeared tearful and distraught in a video that Siddharth posted on social media shortly after the victory.

A well-balanced team Playing Bold with outstanding coaching and support staff. Many congratulations! Ee sala cup namde!!"

When I founded RCB it was my dream that the IPL trophy should come to Bengaluru. I had the privilege of picking the legendary King Kohli as a youngster and it is remarkable that he has stayed with RCB for 18 years. I also had the honour of picking Chris Gayle the Universe Boss…

Online responses to the tweet were divided; some fans applauded his happiness as a founding owner, while others criticised him for continuing to attend RCB-related events in spite of his legal troubles.
