The Indian Premier League is the best T20 competition in the world, according to England batter Sam Billings, who is playing for Lahore Qalandars in the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League. The Big Bash League and the PSL are vying for second place. When asked to compare the PSL to other competitions throughout the globe, Billings, a former player for the Chennai Super Kings, adopted a tactful approach.

The IPL 2025 and the PSL's tenth season are taking place concurrently. India and Pakistan have always been bitter rivals in sports, and their animosity is a result of the sociopolitical unrest that exists between their two neighbours. The best players in world cricket play in the IPL, which is widely recognised as the most popular T20 league in the world. However, this is not the case for other competitions of a similar nature in other nations.

While newer competitions like SA20 and The Hundred have rapidly acquired prominence, the Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, and T20 Blast have been around for a while. Established in 2023, the SA20 is quickly growing into a highly anticipated T20 competition.

Sam Billings Brutal Honesty:

Billings said, "You want me to say something silly? It's hard to look past the IPL as the premier competition in the world, it's very obvious, every other competition is just behind, you know in England we are trying to do the same like PSL as the second best competition in wthe orld, Big Bash too trying to do the same."

He added, "I think it's hard to compare. Each competition brings out different challenges. I am grateful that I get to travel the world and play cricket, and bring a smile to people. I wouldn't trade this job for anything."

Remarkably, this is not the first time a Pakistani reporter has attempted to incite controversy by bringing up India in a query directed at a cricket player. David Warner, the captain of the Karachi Kings, was recently questioned about his opinions after he chose to play in the PSL and was met with animosity by Indian supporters. The former Australian opener dismissed the inquiry, stating that he was unaware of any such response from Indian cricket fans.

Warner said, “This is the first I've heard of it. From my perspective, I want to play cricket. There's an opportunity to come to PSL. My international calendar didn't allow me to come to PSL due to the timing. Now, I want to compete, captain the Karachi Kings, and hopefully, we are able to win the trophy."
