The Lucknow Super Giants' top batter thus far in the IPL 18 has been Nicholas Pooran. With 288 runs in five games, including three half-centuries, the Caribbean power hitter is still atop the Orange Cap records. In the most recent game against the Kolkata Knight Riders, which LSG won by four runs, he scored an undefeated 87. Pooran lost an intra-squad football battle during training, thus, he had to eat some chillies before the away game. Justin Langer, the coach at LSG, established the strange regulation.

As the practice session came to an end, Langer stated in the changing room, "The losing team has to have some chillies. This is like being in jail; when we give you, you’ve got to eat it. You just can’t put it in there and then throw it in the bubble later." After Pooran tasted bread and a green chilli, he was blown away. The Lucknow-based franchise's social media channels posted a video of his amusing response. Pooran was shocked as soon as the chillies touched his mouth, and LSG captain Rishabh Pant was caught comforting him.

Pooran Pays the Price:

A batter who can easily handle elite bowlers on the pitch found it extremely difficult to endure the peppery flavor. Fortunately, however, Mishti Doi, a traditional dessert in Bengal, saved his life. In the caption of the image posted on X (previously Twitter), LSG made a joke, “Don’t worry, we gave Nicky a big bowl of Mishti Doi (Sweet Yogurt) after this." Watch the viral video below.

In their first five IPL games, the Lucknow Super Giants won three of them. With six points, they are currently in fifth place in the league rankings. Due to the outstanding performance of their top-order hitters, LSG has scored more than 170 runs in each of their five games.

Mitchell Marsh, in addition to Nicholas Pooran, has earned a spot on the Orange Cap roster. At a strike rate of 180, the Australian batsman has amassed 265 runs after smashing four fifties. Regarding Pooran's most recent performance, he won the Player of the Encounter in the encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Pooran just needed 36 deliveries to score 87. His innings had a strike rate of 241.66 and featured seven fours and eight sixes.

He was instrumental in helping the Lucknow team to an incredible 238/3 in the game. The game ended up being a nail-biter, with the team ultimately winning by four runs. The supporters were up and dancing after this high-scoring thriller.
