Leg-spinner Raghu Sharma has been added to the Mumbai Indians' (MI) roster for the remaining IPL 2025 season as a substitute for Vignesh Puthur, who is injured. Earlier in IPL 2025, Puthur, MI's youthful left-arm wrist spinner, made a significant impact. Notably, he took three wickets in his first match against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and proceeded to take six wickets at an economy rate of 9.08 in five games. But because of bone stress reactions in both shins, Puthur will now miss the remainder of the season.
Leg-spinner Raghu Sharma has joined the Mumbai Indians to play the rest of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 instead of the injured Vignesh Puthur. Jalandhar native Raghu Sharma, a 31-year-old right-arm leg-break bowler, has represented Punjab and Puducherry in domestic cricket.

With 57 wickets at an average of 19.59 in 11 games, with top figures of 7/56, he has a strong first-class record. In addition, he has taken three wickets in as many T20 matches and fourteen wickets in nine List A games. Sharma will be playing in the IPL for the first time. He joins the Mumbai Indians from the RAPP list at his base salary of Rs 30 lakh.
Vignesh Puthur was starting to establish himself in the event when the injury setback occurred. After taking three wickets in MI's season opener against Chennai Super Kings in March, Vignesh made his IPL debut. Before an injury ended his campaign, he played five more games and finished with six wickets. Vignesh will stay with the team despite his injury and concentrate on getting better while being watched over by the Mumbai Indians' strength and conditioning and medical staff. As the 22-year-old starts his recuperation, the team has stated their support for him.
MI is presently ranked third in the points standings with 12 points from 10 games, having won five of their past five games following a slow start. Given that the five-time champions have given several debuts this season, Raghu has a good chance of making the starting lineup for the games that are coming up.
