Former India batter and presenter Cheteshwar Pujara has revealed the reason why the Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna was more successful than Mohammed Siraj on the third day of the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
Speaking on Sony Sports, Pujara stated that Krishna was successful on Day 3 when he changed his angle and bowled from around the wicket, adding that the pacer mixed his lengths brilliantly to pick up three important wickets.
“He got success only when he changed his angle in the first session. They made a game plan. After that, he stuck to the short ball. Back-of-length delivery is his speciality, but along with that, he used the bouncer well,” Pujara said.
“That’s why he got two wickets with bouncers, and the one wicket we saw on Day 2 was from the six-to-eight-meter length, where he bowls more. So his bowling needs to be praised. It was a good spell on Day 2, and he also bowled well on Day 3. However, he will have to bowl well on Day 4 as well,” Pujara noted.
On the other hand, former Indian cricketer Kaif highlighted how a relatively less experienced seamer, Prasidh Krishna, has outbowled Mohammed Siraj in the ongoing two-match Test series. Krishna ended the first innings with the figures of 3/52 in 16 overs.
“I believe the fast bowlers have bowled well on this pitch, even the Sri Lankan fast bowlers, who took five wickets. Prasidh Krishna stuck to his natural length. He bowled fast, and you rarely see someone leave Siraj behind,” Kaif said.
“Siraj is a senior bowler. He has played close to 45 Test matches, and this is Krishna’s ninth Test. However, on this tour, whether it’s pace or effort, I feel Krishna has looked ahead in all aspects in this series. The three wickets he picked up were special bowling, if we talk about this match,” Kaif concluded.
