“Thanks for those words”: Harmanpreet Kaur gets emotional after her unbeaten 91 against Zimbabwe Women during innings break

Former Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur has credited the former Indian head coach WV Raman for helping her rediscover her love for batting. Notably, her comments came after her unbeaten 91 off 41 in the third T20I against Zimbabwe Women on Tuesday, October 20.

In the mid-innings break, while speaking to WV Raman, Harmanpreet looked emotional while crediting Raman for her match-winning knock. As she continued speaking, her voice trembled with emotion. Fighting back tears, she eventually tossed the microphone aside and walked away, unable to hold back her emotions.

“It feels great. Just wanted to enjoy myself, and great that I got some time in the middle and really enjoyed myself on the field. I think I should give credit to you also. The moment we came, you stepped in and you said, ‘Now you do what you want to do,’ and that’s what I want to do, and really want to enjoy myself. Thanks for those words,” Harmanpreet Kaur said.

Further, Harmanpreet credited her batting coach, Himanshu, for the innings, describing it as entirely his contribution and acknowledging the hard work they put in together during net sessions.

“After the two games, I got some time in the nets. I really want to thank Himanshu bhaiya, who’s been working really hard on me and today’s batting all about him,” she said.

“The first ball when I hit for a four, that time I realised it’s a good pitch and bat was coming nicely to the ball and I think I got a lot of confidence from that shot and then I just thought, let me just keep going and let’s see how it goes,” she concluded.
