Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer has lauded the Indian dashing batter Ishan Kishan, who scored an impressive 81-run knock off 44 balls with nine fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 184.09 in the second T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare as India bagged a 90-run win to seal the series 2-0 with one more game left.
Speaking exclusively on his YouTube channel, Jaffer has credited the former Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and the selection committee for acknowledging Ishan’s domestic performances and selecting him in the Indian T20I side for the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.
“Credit should also be given to Suryakumar Yadav, and the selectors deserve praise as well for acknowledging his domestic performances. Ishan has repaid the faith they showed in him. I think he has been a fantastic addition right from the World Cup, and long may it continue,” Wasim Jaffer said on his YouTube channel.
“He’s in excellent form, and all of us would want him to continue like this for a long time. Ishan Kishan is going through a purple patch, whether it’s the World Cup, the IPL, or even after that. He’s batting with tremendous confidence,” he added.
Shifting our focus to the details of the second T20I, India was tasked to bat first, and they posted a whopping total of 219/5 in 20 overs. In the second innings, Zimbabwe got all out for 129 runs in 17.5 overs, losing the game by 90 runs.
“His leg-side game has always been strong, but I feel that the kind of confidence required at the international level is now clearly visible in Ishan Kishan. The management has also shown faith in him by giving him the No. 3 batting position, which is an excellent spot in the batting order, and he’s making the most of it,” he concluded.
