The Women’s Premier League (WPL 2027) mini auction took place on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at the Grand Hyatt in Kochi, Kerala, starting at 5:30 p.m. IST (local time). A total of 146 players were shortlisted for 27 slots, seven of which were set aside for overseas cricketers.
UP Warriorz spent the most for one player in the WPL 2027 auction, getting Sophie Molineux for INR 1.10 crores. They also bought seven more players, including Grace Harris, Sneh Rana, Sushma Verma, and Kathryn Bryce. With the WPL 2027 auction done and dusted, let’s have a look at the strongest UPW XI for the upcoming WPL season.
Here is the predicted UP Warriorz (UPW) strongest playing XI after the WPL 2027 auction:
Pratika Rawal and Phoebe Litchfield are the best bet to open for UP Warriorz, with captain Meg Lanning coming at the no. 3 spot. Litchfield has scored 442 runs in 20 games with a best score of 78, while Lanning has 1200 runs in 35 WPL games with 11 fifties and a highest score of 92.
The middle order for UP Warriorz is stacked with Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, and Sophie Molineux, with Sushma Verma coming in as the wicketkeeper. Harleen has 648 runs in 28 WPL games with three fifties and has been one of their best batters. Deepti Sharma has made 638 runs and 34 wickets in 33 WPL games.
Sophie Molineux played a huge role in RCB’s WPL win last season, with 12 wickets and 78 runs, and we expect her to continue with her good form, having led Australia to the T20 World Cup 2026 title. Sushma Verma has joined the UPW squad and most likely will keep wickets for the side.
Sneh Rana and Sophie Ecclestone are expected to be the spinners in the squad, with Kranti Gaud and the experienced Shikha Pandey as the pacers. UPW will be Rana’s fourth WPL team, and she has 13 wickets in the league. Ecclestone has taken 43 wickets in WPL in 33 games, while Kranti Gaud has taken 9 wickets in the league. Shikha Pandey has shown her experience with 37 wickets in 35 WPL games.

Phoebe Litchfield, Pratika Rawal, Meg Lanning (C), Harleen Deol, Deepti Sharma, Sophie Molineux, Sushma Verma (WK), Sneh Rana, Kranti Gaud, Sophie Ecclestone, Shikha Pandey
