Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy's outstanding collaboration gave Team India a kind of comeback. With Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul leaving early, the Indian squad had a poor start to the Boxing Day Test after Australia scored 474 runs in the first innings. Washington Sundar, batting at number nine, helped him out well and also struck a half-century.
Nitish Kumar Reddy scored his first international century in spectacular fashion during the day's last session, when he was 99 and smashed the ball towards the mid-on fielder for a four. Yashasvi Jaiswal's 82-run knock gave the team some hope, but he left before a well-earned century. Additionally, the remaining hitters were unable to contribute much, as Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy excelled with the entire middle order back in the pavilion.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar steals the show:
A knock to remember by Nitish. He has impressed me right from the 1st Test and his composure and temperament have been on display right through. Today he took it a notch higher to play a crucial innings in this series. Wonderfully and ably supported by @Sundarwashi5 as well.

As Nitish's father joined hands and thanked God, the mood at the MCG became emotional as he cried happy tears. Following the knock, Nitish arrived at the pavilion to a standing ovation from the Indian camp and gratitude from the Australian players. Washington Sundar added 50 runs in 162 deliveries, while Reddy remained undefeated with a total of 105* runs in 176 deliveries. Because both the No. 8 and No. 9 hitters faced more than 150 balls each in an innings over the 147-year history of Test cricket, their partnership wrote history.
Official broadcasters claim that this is the first time in Test cricket's 147-year history where both the No. 8 and No. 9 hitters faced more than 150 balls in an innings. Along with his century, Nitish accomplished an unlikely goal: he became the third-youngest Indian batsman to reach a first Test century in Australia, behind Rishabh Pant and Sachin Tendulkar.
Regarding the current match between Australia and India, the Indian team finished Day 3 of the match with a score of 358 runs and nine wickets lost. Even with Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar's outstanding combination, the Indian team is still 116 runs behind the Australians.
