Shaun Tait, a former Australian speedster, has been named by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to teach the pace bowling for the national side till November 2027. The 42-year-old takes Andre Adams' position, who left the team following a short and disappointing tenure.
As a bowling coach and former international cricket player, Tait brings a plethora of knowledge to the table. Tait, who played in 59 international matches across formats and claimed 95 wickets with his express pace and unadulterated aggressiveness, was a member of Australia's 2007 World Cup-winning team.
After retiring, Tait began coaching and has held bowling coach positions with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and the West Indies (Test team). In addition, he has experience working in a number of franchise leagues, such as English county cricket, the BPL, BBL, PSL, and LPL. Working with a youthful and reliable bunch of fast bowlers from Bangladesh was disclosed by Tait. The 42-year-old also discussed the chance to collaborate with head coach Phil Simmons.
Shaun Tait on his new journey:
Cricbuzz quotes Tait saying, "It's a good time to be involved with the Bangladesh cricket team right now, a bit of a new era if you like. It's been spoken about many times, the young talent with the fast bowlers-which is great. This is international cricket, not a development team, and everyone expects the talent to bring results, which is very much my focus with the fast bowling group and, most importantly, getting more wins for the team. To have the opportunity to work with Phil Simmons is equally as exciting, and I'm looking forward to the journey ahead."

After Bangladesh's dismal results in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy, which were both a part of Andre Adams' brief term, Tait's appointment represents a new beginning. Despite joining the team in March 2024, Adams was unable to leave a lasting impression, particularly given Bangladesh's fast bowling unit's struggles for penetration and consistency on the international front.
