Cricket Australia revealed on Monday, October 14, that Australian all-rounder Cameron Green will have surgery this week to treat a stress fracture of his lumbar spine. Following his report of lower back pain during the recent UK tour, follow-up scans and a thorough evaluation revealed the degree of the fracture.

Although pace bowlers frequently suffer from stress fractures in their spines, Cam's ailment may have been exacerbated by a particular abnormality in the region next to the fracture. Following extensive consultation, it was decided that Cameron would benefit from the operation to stabilize the deformity and lower the likelihood of a recurrence in the future.

Cameron Green Health Update:

Prominent fast bowlers have had the procedure done successfully in the past. It is projected that recovery will take about six months. Considering Cameron's long-term prospects as an all-around player, the decision to proceed with surgery was made.

Cricket Australia confirmed the 15-player team for the November ODI series against Pakistan. The team will be captained by ace pacer Pat Cummins, with Josh Inglis expected to be the chosen wicketkeeper. Experienced players like Glenn Maxwell, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Steve Smith are also on the team. However, Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh have not been taken into consideration while they are on paternity leave.

Australian Chair of Selectors George Bailey stated, "This is our final ODI series before the Champions Trophy and the balance of the squad was focussed on that as well as continuing to focus on individual preparation for the upcoming Test Summer. In the UK, the one-day side performed admirably, especially considering the difficulties with illness and injuries. We see this as a chance to build on that accomplishment in advance of our visit to Pakistan in February of next year."

Australia Playing XI for Pakistan Series: Pat Cummins (c), Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Andrees Bacon.
