The announcement of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tour schedule in disputed PoK (Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir) by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has caused controversy. Nevertheless, the PCB's plea to include the PoK region in the Champions Trophy tour was turned down by the International Cricket Council (ICC).
Given Pakistan's political unrest and security threats, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is advocating for a mixed format for the prestigious competition. The ICC delayed the announcement of the tournament schedule after the BCCI declined to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has been formally asked by the International Cricket Council (ICC) to provide written justification for its decision to skip the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan. According to a number of publications, the Indian board's formal statement about their rejection to visit their neighbour was requested by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). But thus far, the BCCI has only informed the ICC orally of their decision.

The purpose of the international body's request for a written document is to enable PCB to request strong proof from India to support its demand that it not participate in the tournament if it is hosted in Pakistan. The ICC will evaluate the BCCI's specific justifications for declining to play in Pakistan in accordance with the tournament's rules before rendering a final decision. The Indian decision-makers may be asked to change their position if the ICC finds the explanation to be inadequate. According to insiders, the ICC may decide to add a ninth team to the international competition if they keep refusing.
The schedule for the ICC 50-over competition has not yet been released by the International Cricket Council. Three cities were shortlisted by the Pakistan Cricket Board to host the event: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. On Saturday, November 16, however, the PCB is scheduled to begin the Trophy tour in Islamabad.
India's unwillingness to visit Pakistan caused the trophy unveiling, which was originally scheduled for Lahore earlier this month, to be postponed. The journey was scheduled to end on November 24 and make stops in Murree, Hunza, Muzaffarabad, and Skardu. Additionally, there are plans to bring the prize to Pakistan's K2 summit.
