The second ODI between India (IND) and New Zealand (NZ) will take place on Wednesday, January 14, at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, following an exciting start to the three-match series. In the series opener in Vadodara, India had to work hard to win despite facing a second-string Kiwis team.
New Zealand set up a 301-run target for the hosts on a field that largely supported the batsmen. New Zealand's tall pacer Kyle Jamieson created some uneasy moments in the Indian camp despite Virat Kohli's perfect 93, his fifth consecutive fifty-plus innings, setting up a seamless chase. With his career-best numbers before KL, he accounted for Shreyas Iyer and Ravindra Jadeja in addition to sending back India's top batsman. In the penultimate over, Rahul ended the pursuit, giving Shubman Gill and company a four-wicket victory.

Niranjan Shah Stadium Pitch Report:
On Wednesday, the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot will host its fifth-ever One-Day International (ODI) match; this is the biggest stage ever. The fact that the teams batting first have never lost a game at this location just serves to highlight how unlikely it is that the captain will choose to chase if he wins the toss in the next game. The ground here tends to slow down as the sun sets; therefore, spinners will be used in the second part of the game.
