Temba Bavuma's attempt to remove his thumb from his helmet during the second day of the first Test match between South Africa and Sri Lanka at the Kingsmead in Durban was funny. When the footage of the incident became viral on social media, the South African captain was at the non-striker's end.
Even when Lahiru Kumara ran in to bowl the fifth delivery of the 22nd over, the right-handed batter was still struggling to get his thumb out of the helmet's grill. It didn't take long for the amusing incident's video to go viral on social media. In the first Test, Bavuma performed admirably for the Proteas. The 34-year-old helped the hosts rally from a score of 117/7 with a stoic 70 off 117 balls in the first innings, reaching a respectable 191 before being bowled out.

In 13.5 overs, Marco Jansen had his best Test results to date (7/13), as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 42. In the first innings, South Africa jumped off to a huge 149-run advantage. Following centuries from Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs, the home team was declared for 366/5 in the second innings. Bavuma scored 113 off 228 deliveries, while Stubbs added 122 off 221 balls.
With seven wickets remaining, South Africa increased their lead from 149 to 281 thanks to Bavuma's 24 at the end of day two. Sri Lanka posted their lowest Test total of 42 thanks to Jansen's 7/13. Kagiso Rabada took one wicket while Gerald Coetzee took two. After taking two wickets in the fourth innings, Jansen has once again been in form. Gerald Coetzee has contributed by dismissing Pathum Nissanka, and Kagiso Rabada has also claimed two wickets.
Day 3 ended with the visiting team in serious difficulties after losing half of their team for 103 runs in the fourth innings. On Saturday, Dinesh Chandimal and skipper Dhananjaya de Silva will resume play. If the weather cooperates, this might be the last day of the Test match.
