Cricketer Digvesh Singh Rathi has once again made news for his anti-welcoming gestures and antics on the field, this time during the Delhi Premier League DPL 2025 Eliminator match between the West Delhi Lions and South Delhi Superstarz. Digvesh has been fined a staggering 80% of his match expenses for his verbal altercation with star batsman Nitish Rana. Rana has also been fined half of his match fee in the meantime.

In a knockout match, players from both sides struggled to manage their emotions, which was the primary cause of two instances where the situation escalated. As if the brawl between Sumit Mathur and Krish Yadav wasn't enough, Nitish Rana and Digvesh Rathi also became embroiled in the fray and couldn't help but exchange a few words.

Digvesh Rathi and Nitish Rana Fight in DPL 2025:

Interestingly, the incident happened on Friday when Nitish Rana was batting and used a premeditated reverse sweep to hit the ace spinner for a boundary. The batter indicated writing something on his bat shortly after the shot, a gesture that is oddly connected to Digvesh after he makes a breakthrough. When the bowler saw the behaviour, he yelled at the West Delhi Lions skipper.

Nitish Rana attempted a reverse sweep on the following ball and hit it for a six. Then, using Rathi's signature notebook celebration on his bat, the left-handed batter made fun of him. Rathi became enraged by this, and the spinner used some foul language. Rana became enraged and rushed towards Rathi to express his displeasure. As soon as they separated Rana and Rathi, the other South Delhi Superstarz players realised how serious the situation was.

Speaking of the game, Rana is the highlight of the evening after hitting a spectacular century in the crucial encounter for his team. Rana went on to help his team secure a spot in the competition's Qualifier 2 by scoring an undefeated 134 off just 55 balls, which featured eight fours and 15 massive sixes. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi, the West Delhi-based team will now play the East Delhi Riders in the second qualifying round on Saturday.
