During the second day of the ongoing one-off Test match against India at the WACA Stadium in Perth on Saturday, legendary Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry became the highest run scorer for Australia women in Test cricket. In the first innings of the match, Perry scored 76 runs, making her the second Australian woman cricket player to reach 100 or more in Test cricket. On the final delivery of the 43rd over, she reached 1000 runs with a single.

Perry became the second Australian player to reach 1000 career runs in the first innings of the Test match with her 76-run effort. She soon surpassed the 1002 runs scored by former skipper Karen Rolton before getting removed by off-spinner Deepti Sharma. Perry crossed Rolton's record with a stepped-out loft over mid-off that went for four after reaching her milestone with a single off the final ball of Sneh Rana's 43rd over. Soon after, Deepti Sharma was removed without scoring any more runs. She was trapped leg before wicket (lbw) after being caught on the crease with a delivery that remained low.

Ellyse Perry's Milestone Moment:

After dismissing India for 198 runs in the first innings, Perry and Annabel Sutherland combined for 128 runs for the fourth wicket, helping Australia gain a significant lead. Australia's women are 217/4 in 58 overs at Tea on Day 2. The hosts are hoping to score a ton of runs, as Beth Mooney (10*) and Sutherland (93* off 125 balls) are unbeaten at the bat.

While Sharma and Kranti Gaud each claimed a wicket for India, Sayali Satghar claimed a pair. When India was allowed to bat first earlier, Australia dismissed them for 198 runs, with rookie Lucy Hamilton taking three wickets and Sutherland taking four. Ashleigh Gardner took out Richa Ghosh, while Darcie Brown also claimed a few wickets.
