KL, an Indian batter When Rahul was questioned about his batting position during the Adelaide Test match, the press room went crazy. Rahul informed the media that he was informed of his batting position but instructed not to disclose it to anybody. Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the batting in the first Test in Perth since skipper Rohit Sharma was unable to play, which allowed the batsman to regain his form.
In the second innings, he and Jaiswal stitched a 201-run partnership that gave the visitors a commanding 295-run victory. But with Rohit expected to return for the second Test match in Adelaide, questions have once again been raised about the Karnataka batsman's place in the order.
Rahul talked extensively about his batting and how at ease he is batting in a variety of spots in the lineup during the press conference on Wednesday, December 4. KL Rahul stated that he did not mind batting in any position and that all he wanted was to be included in the Indian Test team's playing XI. The cricket player stated that he is open to batting at any number because his objective is to be a reliable player in the starting lineup. Rahul added that earlier in his career, changing roles frequently upset him, but that with experience, he now manages it much better.
KL Rahul leaves the media in splits:
During the press conference, Rahul said, "I just want to be in the playing XI, go out there and bat and play for the team. I just go there and try to see what I need to do to get runs in a particular situation. Luckily, I have batted in different positions. Early on, when I was asked to bat at different positions, it was a bit of a challenge mentally. How to play those first 20–25 balls? how early can I attack? Those things were a problem earlier, but it has gotten easy with the experience of playing in different formats."
Together with Yashasvi Jaiswal, the right-hander batted brilliantly in the second innings of the Perth Test match, scoring more than 200 runs together—the most of any Indian opening pair. Rahul claimed that the Indian team's management had warned him that he would open the Perth Test match early.
He added, “This will be my first pink ball Test match. I don't have the game experience that some other players have in the team. It is just about speaking to the guys and getting to know what were the things that they found hard and how they managed to adjust and make changes. In practice, I felt that it was a little different in terms of how you watch this ball."
