In the three-match ODI series against Ireland Women, the focus has been on the Indian women's hitters. In Wednesday's third ODI against Ireland in Rajkot, captain Smriti Mandhana achieved the fastest One-Day International century by an Indian player in women's cricket, hitting the mark in just 70 balls. In the last and final ODI, India's captain Smriti Mandhana made an outstanding impression with a century, hitting 168.75 runs off just 80 deliveries, including 12 fours and seven soaring sixes.
Before being caught at short fine leg by Orla Prendergast, the explosive opener, who was leading the team in the absence of usual captain Harmanpreet Kaur, blazed through the batting with 12 boundaries and seven sixes in her thrilling 135-run knock. Breaking the record set by her senior and regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who achieved the milestone off just 87 balls during a home series against South Africa in 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, this was the fastest-ever century by an Indian batter in WODIs, reaching the milestone off just 70 balls.
Fastest Century by Indian Women in ODI:
S. No. | Player | Balls Taken | Opposition, Year |
1 | Smriti Mandhana | 70 | vs Ireland Women, 2025 |
2 | Harmanpreet Kaur | 87 | vs South Africa Women, 2024 |
3 | Harmanpreet Kaur | 90 | vs Australia Women, 2017 |
4 | Jemimah Rodrigues | 90 | vs Ireland Women, 2025 |
5 | Harleen Deol | 98 | vs West Indies Women, 2024 |
Mandhana's century is tied with former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards' 2012 effort as the seventh-fastest in the format. Along with England's Tammy Beaumont, Mandhana now shares third place on the all-time list of women's ODI hundreds with her tenth ODI hundred.

Richa Ghosh contributed a rapid half-century to the total, in addition to the centurion duet. After surpassing the 418 of the New Zealand Women, this was the fourth-highest total overall.
