Former West Indies great Dwayne Bravo announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after competing in his final match for the Trinbago Knight Riders in the current Caribbean Premier League 2024.

From all across the world, there were tributes to the great man that were full of respect and adoration. After all, in addition to being a fantastic all-around player for any team he represented, he was also a fantastic representative of the sport because of his unmatched enthusiasm and demeanour on the field.

Soon after hanging up his boots, the Kolkata Knight Riders announced in the media that they had decided to appoint the seasoned player as a mentor in front of the 18th Indian Premier League season.

Dwayne Bravo's iconic move:

The Chennai Super Kings, a team that Bravo nearly lived with for a decade, were not amused by this call, as was to be expected. In addition to being an essential part of the Men in Yellow's machinery, he had also emerged as one of the teams' faces and a fan favourite among the CSK supporters. The CSK-KKR matchup may now develop into a new rivalry in the IPL after CSK's long-standing rivalry with the Mumbai Indians.

As soon as the KKR official handle announced the decision, social media went crazy. While the majority of supporters applauded Bravo's decision to play against a direct opponent, many of them also voiced their frustration with CSK for not keeping one of their icons for the 2025 Indian Premier League

It's interesting to note that Bravo joined CSK as their bowling coach for the upcoming two seasons after retiring from the IPL following the 2022 season. Notably, Bravo spent nine arduous seasons playing in the CPL for TKR, who were later acquired by KKR's parent business, the Knight Riders Group.
