Vikram Rathour, a former opener for India, has been named the Rajasthan Royals' new batting coach. Rathour, an experienced cricket professional, becomes the latest addition to the Royals coaching staff. The team recently welcomed Rahul Dravid back to the position of Head Coach, rekindling a productive collaboration that saw India rise to the top of the rankings in all three formats during their time together and win the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 earlier this year.

Rathour has a wealth of experience, having represented India in six Test matches and seven One-Day Internationals before taking on a highly regarded coaching role. Rathour, who is well-known for his technical skill, was India's hitting coach from 2019 to 2023, during which time he significantly influenced the development of young Indian hitters. During his time, he assisted players like KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Rishabh Pant as they went through important stages in their growth.

Rathour was a national selector and a domestic cricket coach for Punjab and Himachal Pradesh before taking on his position with India.

Rajasthan Royals head coach Rahul Dravid remarked while extending his welcome to Rathour, "Having worked closely with Vikram for many years, I can confidently say that his technical expertise, calm demeanor, and deep understanding of Indian conditions make him a perfect fit for the Royals. We've developed a great relationship together and helped lead India to significant achievements, so I'm excited to work with him again. His capacity to develop young talent and maximize players' potential will be extremely helpful as we work to bolster our roster and keep Rajasthan Royals becoming a premier team."

The veteran coach of numerous national and international teams, Vikram Rathour, expressed his pleasure by stating, "It's an honour to be a member of the Royals family. It's an extremely thrilling prospect to collaborate with Rahul once more, this time with a young, promising cricket team. I'm excited to add to the team's vision and work toward our objective of producing elite athletes who can assist India and the Royals to win titles."
