Watch: Ravichandran Ashwin gets love from all ages at Chepauk

In the opening innings of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the team's best batsman. On his home field, the renowned off-spinner hammered his sixth Test century.

After India was reduced to 144/6 in the 43rd over, the supporters who travelled to the stadium watched an incredible partnership between Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Occasionally, the cameras panned to the fans to catch their feelings during a thrilling day of Test cricket. An old woman, one of the supporters, stole the show as she enthusiastically applauded the players from the stands. The commentators were also impressed by her passion for the game.

Upon reaching his fifty score, the ageing aunt cheered the 38-year-old cricket player from her chair. But the fact that she was holding two teacups added to the interest of the scene. Ravi Shastri compared her cheering on air to that of the fans in the Lord's Long Room following a century by a player.

Ashwin observed that the pitch had a respectable bounce and carry after the play of the day. He stated that his goal was to bowl like Rishabh Pant, who on Day 1 scored an impressive 39 off 52 balls.

The cricketer said, "It's an aged Chennai surface that has some give and bounce. If you are willing to just get in line and give it a little tonk when there's width, the red dirt pitch lets you play a few shots. Naturally, I've always been drifting around outside off-stump with my bat. Worked on a couple things and said, If you're going after the ball, might as well go after it really hard like Rishabh does on a surface like this with a bit of spice."
