On the third day of the first Test match against Australia in Perth, star batsman Virat Kohli hammered his 30th Test century. India declared their second innings at 487/6 after Kohli reached triple figures in 143 balls, giving Australia a 534-run victory mark. After 16 months, Kohli achieved his first Test century, surpassing Sir Donald Bradman of Australia as the player with the most tons in the longest format. Before the Perth Test, Kohli and Bradman were tied for 29 hundred.

With overnight batsmen KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal at the crease, India began the day at 172/0. After 15 Test matches, the southpaw, who was batting at 90, swiftly hit the three-figure to achieve his fourth Test hundred and become the fastest Asian to reach 1500 runs. However, Rahul, who appeared poised to reach his century, was dismissed by Mitchell Starc at 77.

Virat Kohli trends on social media:

With 49 Test hundreds under his belt when he retired in 2013, Sachin Tendulkar stands at the top of the all-time list. In the meantime, Kohli is the fourth Indian player to reach 30 or more hundred. The only Indian players to score more hundreds than Kohli were Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid (36), and Sunil Gavaskar (34). The innings was declared by stand-in India captain Jasprit Bumrah with Kohli undefeated at 100. When the announcement was made, Nitish Kumar Reddy was likewise undefeated on 38.

Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel were the two quick wickets that India lost.ย After that, Kohli and Washington Sundar, a spin-bowling all-rounder, formed an important partnership and shared 89 runs. Sundar played his shots along the ground and was a wonderful companion for Kohli. However, he misread the length of one ball in which he attempted to attack Nathon Lyon, causing his stumps to fly after a solid 29.ย

After that, it was up to Kohli and rookie Nitish Kumar Reddy to ensure that India scored a respectable total. Reddy easily reached 38 after playing several bold shots. He hit two sixes and three boundaries in his inning. In addition, Kohli surpassed the record held by the great Don Bradman with his 30th century in Test cricket. In addition, it was Kohli's sixth Test century in Australia. India announced 487/6d.
