Akash Deep, a right-arm pacer, played the game-winning role in India's historic Test triumph at Edgbaston. The Bihar native gave a really touching narrative that made his accomplishment even more significant. He disclosed that his older sister had been stricken with cancer and had been fighting the illness for the previous two months.
In the Edgbaston Test against England, pacer Akash Deep was the game-changing element. The fast bowler returned with a match haul of 10 wickets, assisting India in winning the second Test by 336 runs to tie the five-match series. In the second innings, the right-arm fast bowler took six wickets, assisting India in bowling England out for 271. Due to his workload management, Jasprit Bumrah sat out, and no one offered India a chance to take 20 wickets. But Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep filled in for him, dispelling the sceptics.

Akash Deep became emotional during his post-match interview with JioHotstar after the game ended. In an interview with Cheteshwar Pujara, Akash disclosed that his older sister was diagnosed with cancer two months ago. Talking to Sony Sports Network, Akash Deep said, "I have not told this to anyone. My elder sister has been suffering from cancer for the last two months. She is now stable, and she is fine. I think she will be the happiest (seeing my performance). I want to dedicate this match to her. I wanted to see a smile on her face. This is for you. Whenever I held the ball in my hand, your face was in my mind. I want to see happiness in your face. We are all with you."
India's victory was historic in a number of ways, including the fact that it was their first Test victory at Edgbaston, where they had played eight Test matches before, losing seven and drawing one. It also surpassed India's 318-run triumph over the West Indies in 2019 to become the country's largest away Test cricket victory in terms of runs.
