India advanced to the T20 World Cup 2026 final after defeating England by seven runs in a thrilling semifinal on Thursday at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. After being called into bat by England captain Harry Brook, India amassed 253/7 in 20 overs due to some superb cameos and Sanju Samson's 89 off 42 balls. In response, 22-year-old Jacob Bethell's amazing 105 off 48 helped England stay in the chase all the way to the finish. India crossed the finish line thanks to outstanding death overs from Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, as well as outstanding fielding by Axar Patel. On Sunday, India will play New Zealand in the summit match.

India scored the highest total in a T20 World Cup quarterfinal match, 253/7, when batting first. Ishan Kishan (39) and Shivam Dube (43) contributed vital runs to propel the Men in Blue to the formidable total, while Sanju Samson anchored the innings with an 89 off 42 balls. Jacob Bethell scored 105 off 48 balls to keep the match alive as England replied forcefully in the chase. But Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya's periods made sure the reigning champions maintained composure in the closing moments to win and secure their spot in the championship match.

India Moves to T20 World Cup 2026 Final:

Jasprit Bumrah, a great pacer, was one bowler who made sure India won the match. Bumrah's variations helped India recover when England was attacking during the powerplay. With his first delivery, he struck, tricking Harry Brook, the captain of England, with a well-disguised slower ball. Axar Patel made a spectacular running catch from cover to send Brook back after he mistimed the shot.

During the match, Bumrah's economical bowling proved crucial as he regularly bowled tight lines and yorkers while others went for runs. Compared to most bowlers in the contest, he gave up much fewer runs, finishing with stats of 1/33 in four overs. He also achieved 500 wickets for India in international cricket at this time.
