The Saxton Oval in Nelson will host the second One-Day International between the women of New Zealand and Sri Lanka on March 7. Both teams will need to win this game in order to at least salvage the series and enter the final game with some confidence. Rain forced the cancellation of the first ODI between Sri Lankan and New Zealand women on March 4 at McLean Park in Napier.

The New Zealand team will not be pleased about missing many important players from their squad because of injuries, even though they may be pleased with their bowling performance in the first ODI before it was washed out. The Sri Lanka women's team, captained by Chamari Athapaththu, has been struggling with poor results in their recent ODI cricket matches, while the Kiwi squad is dealing with injuries.

Saxton Oval Pitch Report:

The Nelson ground has been a mixed bag, sometimes supporting the batsmen but also providing something for the bowlers. In contrast, the cloudy weather in Napier was helping the bowlers a little. The choice to bat first and test the conditions will be made on this wicket because the sides may not be aware of how the pitch would respond.
