Wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav should be in the starting lineup for the second Test match against the England National Cricket Team, according to demands made by former India National Cricket Team players Sunil Gavaskar, Saba Karim, Harbhajan Singh, and Navjot Singh Sidhu. The necessity for India to have spinner Kuldeep Yadav in the starting lineup for the second Test match against England has been emphasised by former Indian cricketer Saba Karim. Karim noted that Kuldeep may be a useful asset because he has had a lot of success against the English hitters at home in the past.
The former cricket players mentioned above think that Shubman Gill will have a legitimate possibility to take wickets against the Ben Stokes-led team if Kuldeep Yadav is included in the starting lineup. At Headingley, Leeds, on June 24, India lost the first Test match to England by five wickets. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and bowling seam all-rounder Shardul Thakur were all part of the Indian team's pace-heavy assault.
Kuldeep Yadav gets Support:
Sony Sports via India Today quotes Gavaskar saying, "Whether Jasprit Bumrah is fit or not, I think Kuldeep Yadav has to come into the team. I do believe that he should come into the team for Shardul Thakur because the Birmingham pitch will be one where there will be just a little bit of help for the wrist spinner."
Sony Sports quotes Saba Karim, "Stats are the witness. Kuldeep Yadav took 17 wickets against England in the home series. When he releases the ball, no English batter is able to understand it. So why aren't you playing that kind of bowler? He is an attacking bowler for you. India needs attacking bowlers at the moment. If you are playing a batting all-rounder in the form of Nitish Kumar Reddy, the four remaining bowlers need to be wicket-taking options. India will have to go with bold moves. There is no need for defensive decisions. We are trailing 1-0, this is the time to take courageous and bold decisions, which will be in India's favour."
Karim also emphasised that one of the Leeds Test's main positives was the Indian pacers' performance in the second innings. He did, however, issue a warning, saying that India cannot afford to allow England to regain the lead.
