When Harmanpreet Kaur's attempt at a reverse scoop failed, and she ended up smacking the ball on her own face, Mitchell Starc could not contain his laughter. In Friday's second women's ODI, the event occurred on the last ball of the 39th over of India's batting against Australia. But during her uncomfortable 70-ball stint at the crease, the India captain narrowly avoided a head injury in the 39th over of the first innings after mishitting a scoop shot off Megan Schutt.
Harmanpreet Kaur planned to hit the ball behind the wickets when Schutt bowled a slower ball since there was a gap that was wide open, and that shot was necessary. However, Harmanpreet miscalculated and was unable to time the ball effectively since the delivery was slow and bowled wide outside the off-stump. After bouncing off her blade, the ball struck her helmet's facial grill.

Starc was observed laughing while watching the events on the field from the game's commentary booth. After a quick check, the physiotherapist said Harmanpreet was fine to go. When batting first, the Women in Blue could only manage 251 after 50 overs, despite the captain's heroic efforts with the bat. The goal was insufficient for the Australians, as Georgia Voll (101) and Phoebe Litchfield (80) easily completed the run chase on Friday to take a 2-0 lead in the ODI series. In contrast to the first two games, Harmanpreet thought that her team needed to bat well enough and hopes to do so in the third.
The same location will host the third ODI of the multi-format series on Sunday, March 1. Before heading to red-ball cricket for the one-off Test, which is scheduled to begin on March 6, the 36-year-old will be looking to secure a consolation victory in this encounter.
