As her remarkable international career draws to a close, Australia's Alyssa Healy has hinted that there won't be much grief. After the one-off Test match against India at the WACA in Perth, which begins on Friday, March 6, the right-handed batter will hang up her boots.  In order to prevent the Australians from losing the multi-format format against the current 50-over world champions, Healy guided Australia to an ODI series whitewash against India.

During the third ODI against India in Hobart last Sunday, Healy gave 19-year-old Lucy Hamilton her first cap. After losing the T20I series 1-2, Australia won the game by 185 runs to complete a clean sweep of the ODI series.

ESPNcricinfo quotes Healy saying, "I genuinely don't think there'll be any sadness. I'm just really excited for life after cricket, and I'm really grateful for the experience that I've had so far. We'll wait and see what unfolds next, which is more exciting than anything else."

She further added, "I'm just really excited for what's going to be a cracking four days of cricket. Whatever happens will happen. I'm very aware that not everyone retires on their own terms. This is a really cool opportunity to retire at home and in a baggy green."

The 35-year-old has also felt really fortunate to play in a Test match to cap off her career. Healy has scored 489 runs in her ten Test matches thus far. In her farewell game, the wicketkeeper-batter will try to reach her first Test century; her previous best was 99.

Australia had already established an 8-4 lead in the multi-format series going into the game. A victory in a white-ball match earns two points, whereas a win in a Test match earns four. If India women win the Test match, the series can still be tied. The two adversaries' multi-format series comes to an end with the Pink-Ball Test. India will try to duplicate their historic first-ever Test victory against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in December 2023, while Australia simply needs a draw to win the entire series.
