Shreyas Iyer's withdrawal from the game, citing personal reasons, was a significant development before India A's second Unofficial Test match versus Australia A started. Before the match, the middle-order batsman, who captained India A in the opening game of the series, notified the BCCI and selectors that he would not be available. After that, he went back to Mumbai before the game.
Iyer had just returned to the longer format and was trying to solidify his place in the Test system before India's next series against the West Indies, so the announcement caused some controversy. Crucially, team sources and officials have stressed that his absence was not due to an injury.

In his place, Indian was quick to appoint Mohammed Siraj and opener KL Rahul to the starting lineup in anticipation of the forthcoming Test series between India and the West Indies. Manav Suthar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Ayush Badoni also merited spots in the starting lineup. Notably, for unclear reasons, opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran is also not included in the playing XI for this match. However, it is believed that Easwaran had to give way to the Karnataka-born Rahul, the senior opener, when he arrived.
India A had batting success in the opening game thanks to 150 runs from Devdutt Padikkal and 140 from wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. Sai Sudharsan and Narayan Jagadeesan also contributed half-centuries. Harsh Dubey was the bowler who took three wickets. With Sam Konstas scoring 109, Josh Phillippe staying undefeated at 123, and half-centuries from Campbell Kellaway, Liam Scott, and Cooper Connolly, Australia A also made an impression at the batting end. Corey Rocchiccioli took three wickets with the ball. In order to win and end the series 1-0, both teams will be trying to give it their all.
