On Tuesday, September 23, it was formally revealed that Dinesh Karthik, a former Indian cricket player, would captain the Indian squad for the forthcoming Hong Kong Sixes. On November 7, the exciting, fast-paced action is set to start. Notably, he is the second name selected to the squad after Karthik's Tamil Nadu teammate Ravichandran Ashwin, another well-known figure, was added earlier this week.
Former wicketkeeper-batsman Karthik, who has played in 26 Test matches and 154 limited-overs internationals, covered the thrilling England vs. India series for Sky Sports during the summer. He has joined the Indian team for the three-day competition at Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground starting on November 7 alongside the 38-year-old spinning virtuoso Ravichandran Ashwin.

According to NDTV Sports, Karthik said, "It is an absolute honour leading Team India at the Hong Kong Sixes, a tournament with such rich history and global recognition. I look forward to leading a group of players who have such incredible records to their credit, and together we will aim to bring joy to the fans and play cricket that is both fearless and entertaining."
Karthik is renowned for his extensive experience, keen leadership abilities, and explosive batting style. He had a lengthy and significant international career. It is anticipated that his selection as captain will increase team confidence and tournament excitement. When the Sixes made their comeback after a seven-year hiatus in 2024, India lost all five of their games. They have brought on 40-year-old Karthik, who has amassed a strike rate of 142.61 from 48 T20 international innings. He last played for the Paarl Royals, a South African T20 team, in February.
