The Champions Trophy 2025's second match between India and Bangladesh is scheduled for February 20 at Dubai's Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India just defeated England 3-0 in the One-Day International series. They want to maintain the momentum and get the tournament off to a good start. However, despite their inexperience, Bangladesh has struggled at the ICC events, and their poor performance record there has always followed them.
In Thursday's second match of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Bangladesh's skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto, chose to bat first against India after winning the toss. India's XI consists of spinners Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav, as well as two-seamers, Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana.
With Rana making his debut and bringing a new dimension to the team, Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy have been left out of India's roster. After the toss, there has been a lot of debate on the choice to exclude Arshdeep Singh from the Indian squad.
Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy NOT playing:
Even though he was a significant player, the reason for his expulsion is still unknown and has not been clarified. Since this game kicks off India's ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign, where Arshdeep's participation was highly anticipated, this decision has sparked controversy. Rohit Sharma, the captain of India, did not even explain why he thought Harshit was better than Arshdeep.
Rohit Sharma said during the toss, “I would have fielded first. We have played a few years back here so we felt the ball comes on better under lights. All looking good. Everyone is fit and fine to go. Let's hope we start well. There is no looking back, every game becomes very important in this tournament. Only Varun misses out from the last ODI we played, Jadeja comes back Arshdeep misses and Shami comes back."
