On February 20, Team India will play Bangladesh to start their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign. In the past few months, India has performed well in bilateral white-ball series. They will also be encouraged by their recent victory in the T20 World Cup 2024. From the league stages to the finals, India dominated every opponent, earning the title while going undefeated thanks to a full team effort.
In a video posted by the BCCI on its official social media accounts, the 37-year-old right-handed batter, who hopes to win another ICC trophy as India's captain, stated that the Indian squad is ready for the Champions Trophy 2025 and hopes to win it once more.
India skipper Rohit Sharma has a special message for the team and supporters as they prepare for another ICC trophy chase. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted a film featuring Rohit in the lead role just hours before their pivotal match. He told fans that the team wanted to "be champions together" once more while reminiscing about the good old days.
Rohit Sharma for Champions Trophy 2025:
In a BCCI video, Rohit stated, “From Barbados to India—we were made to feel like champions, and we felt like champions. Along with us, I am sure you felt like champions too. Months later, we begin our quest to become champions once again. We have trained, and tournament mandates are done, now it is time to go all out on the field. For the team, for you fans, and for the nation that will be chanting our names, as always. So, let’s do this again, you & us—let’s be champions together."
It is important to remember that Jasprit Bumrah was declared unfit prior to the important competition and removed from the Champions Trophy roster almost two weeks prior to India's opening match. India is now a spin-heavy team in the event compared to other teams thanks to the addition of Varun Chakravarthy to the squad. Mohammed Shami will take over as the leader of the Indian speed attack in Bumrah's absence.
