The fast bowler Arundhati Reddy, who sustained a knee injury during Thursday's warm-up match against England at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru, is "perfectly fine," which will be a huge relief for the Indian women's team just before their 2025 Women's ODI World Cup campaign.
On Thursday, the incident happened at Bengaluru's Centre of Excellence (CoE). Ahead of the 2025 Women's ODI World Cup, the Indian team will be quite happy with this development. Reddy had just removed opener Amy Jones when she sustained the injury while delivering her fifth over. Heather Knight, the captain of England, hit her left knee with a strong straight stroke. Reddy was unable to stand up right away due to the abrupt hit. She needed assistance getting off the field in a wheelchair as team physiotherapists and backup players hurried to her aid.

A BCCI Source has now revealed to TOI, stating, “Arundhati is perfectly fine. The scans (after her injury) revealed nothing.” Reddy joins Renuka Singh Thakur, Kranti Goud, and all-rounder Amanjot Kaur as the only four seam alternatives in India's 15-man roster. Amanjot hasn't played competitive cricket since the England tour earlier this year, while Renuka just returned after a protracted injury layoff. In recent appearances, standby list member Sayali Satghare has displayed flashes of genius.
Reddy is playing in her debut ODI World Cup, which is a notable achievement. She made her ODI debut in 2024 after two successful seasons with the Delhi Capitals in the Women's Premier League. Since then, she has taken 15 wickets in 11 games, including a career-high 4 for 26 against Australia in December of last year. She is a valuable member of India's middle order and pace unit due to her ability to contribute with both bat and ball. In the lead-up to the World Cup, India has already experienced injuries. Uma Chetry has been selected to replace wicketkeeper-batter Yastika Bhatia, who suffered an ACL tear during the Vizag skills camp and is now out.
