In the next Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25 match against Australia, Yuvraj Singh suggested that India play aggressively. The renowned all-rounder believes that India will want to make a statement against the world Test champions since they are still in pain from their 0–3 thumping at home against New Zealand.
Yuvraj Singh thinks that understanding the pace and bounce of Australian surfaces is essential to India's success in the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. According to him, the squad needs to strike a mix between aggressive batting and a focused strategy at the crease. For Indian batsmen to overcome obstacles in Australia, where scoring calls for perseverance and flexibility, this combination is essential.
Yuvraj Singh shares valuable advice:
Yuvraj cited the 2020–21 series' offensive cricket players Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill as excellent examples. On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara's long innings demonstrated his unwavering fortitude, which was essential for withstanding pressure and wearing down Australian bowlers.
While speaking to Midday Yuvraj said, "They are under pressure after the 0-3 loss to New Zealand at home. That’s hurt them a lot. They want to prove a point in Australia and win there. That’s the mindset you need to have. You can’t go to Australia and have a mentality of drawing the series."
Australia will try to dominate them, the former Indian cricket player warned. But according to Yuvraj, India will win if the key players perform well and Jasprit Bumrah takes some wickets. He added, "They’re going to look to dominate you. It’s going to be hard to beat Australia. But you’ve done that twice in the past. So there’s no reason you can’t do it again. But for that, the top guys have to fire; Jasprit Bumrah has to take wickets. I back India to win, but we must remember that Australia will also be prepared."
Yuvraj emphasized that winning the series will require a combination of aggressiveness and resiliency. On these quick, bouncy tracks, batters who are willing to slog out innings and skilled at countering short-pitched bowling have the best chance of succeeding.
