The Royal Challengers Bengaluru are one of the teams assessing their possible captain for the upcoming Indian Premier League season as the blockbuster auction draws near. Given that RCB's now-former captain, Faf du Plessis, was not retained, a change in command appears likely. Robin Uthappa, a former RCB player, added to the same conversation.

Rajat Patidar has been mentioned by former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa as a potential candidate to captain the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Following their decision to forego keeping Faf du Plessis, RCB will be considering their captaincy options ahead of the 2025 IPL. Even though the mega auction has a ton of alternatives, like Jos Buttler, Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and many more, Uthappa thinks RCB should give Patidar a go.

Robin Uthappa nominates Rajat Patidar as RCB captain:

Talking on Jiocinemas, Uthappa said, "I think they should look at Rajat Patidar to take over that role because it seems like you need a new leader after two years. So, you might as well do it now to get ahead of the curve and build a captain for the next three to five years. Rajat is one of those players who can actually play that role for them."

RCB could re-associate themselves with two of the players that former Indian cricketer Saba Karim had. He defended the team's decision to try to reintroduce English all-rounder Will Jacks and pacer Mohammed Siraj into the lineup.

Karim said, "RCB can always go back to Siraj because he's been phenomenal for the side. They got Yash Dayal as a left-arm seam bowler, which is a wonderful thing, but they also need someone to give him proper company. So, if RCB can have Siraj, then at least the pace-bowling section is kind of filled up. I'm also looking at Will Jacks. He was very good for them last season. He can come in right at the top, and he's also a very useful right-arm off-break bowler."

Notably, RCB has a remaining purse of INR 83 crore to fill up the vacant 22 positions to complete their team. To contend for the championship, they will be trying to build a powerful, well-rounded team. Watch this space for more cricket news.
