Actor Alia Bhatt has finally responded to the rumours circulating online about her presence at the 79th British Academy Film Awards, where a brief exchange on the red carpet sparked a heated discussion on social media. The celebrity, who gave the Best Film Not in the English Language award during the event, came under fire for her answer to a query concerning famous film twists.

For the unversed, in addition to her appearance on the international scene, the Gangubai Kathiawadi actress garnered attention for her body language and on-camera comments in post-event interviews, particularly when she was asked about the biggest twist in the film. She also presented the Best Film Not in the English Language award at the ceremony.

She was asked to name a movie with an unusual story twist in a little video from the occasion. She responded with Gone Girl, a psychological thriller renowned for its unexpected twists, after a little silence. Although the response itself seems simple, watchers on the internet analysed her tone and facial expressions, with some speculating as to whether she was uncertain or just taken aback.

Actress Alia Bhatt Slams Trolls:

Her reaction was condemned as being too hesitant or awkward by several viewers, who questioned whether she had truly seen the movie. According to other users, she appeared anxious and was attempting to project an air of confidence, akin to that of a worldwide celebrity. The video immediately sparked internet discussions, with both supporters and detractors debating whether her response was an honest surprise or an impromptu attempt to respond under duress.

In an interaction with Diet Sabya, she said, “Why is it being talked about so much? Is it because of my expression?"  Elaborating further, she said, "So basically I really think it is the best twist but I have not liked watched it in… when did it release? 10 years ago? So I have not watched it after that. So when she was like, ‘that monologue,’ I was like ‘haan’ (yes) and I was going back in my head that oh ya, ‘that monologue, correct correct correct’ and she was mentioned cleaning the floor and I was like like ‘haan’ (yes) so I was like going back in time and I guess that’s what you saw. I am a cool girl. I am a sweet girl. But I could be… total… I mean I can be like… I am more sweet than I am cool. Actually, I don’t think I am cool. I am uncool girl, my sister would say that. (sic)”

Even after the brief scandal, Alia is still making great progress both domestically and abroad. She will star in Shiv Rawail's female-led spy thriller Alpha, which is set in the YRF Spy Universe and co-stars Bobby Deol and Sharvari Wagh. In Love and War, she will also work with famed director Sanjay Leela Bhansali again, costarring with Vicky Kaushal and Ranbir Kapoor.
