Lahore 1947 release date out: Sunny Deol’s patriotic film set to hit theatres soon!

Lahore 1947, starring Sunny Deol, is one of the year's most anticipated films. Aamir Khan Productions revealed on February 9 that the period drama will be released in theatres on August 13, which is Independence Day week, following a lengthy delay in the release schedule.

The project is a noteworthy moment of Aamir Khan and Sunny Deol working together for the first time. Santoshi, Deol's long-time creative partner, returns to the director's chair while Aamir produces the movie under his brand. Taking it to their official social media handle, the makers dropped the new release date of Lahore 1947.

Given that the announcement was made almost two years before the film's planned release date, it appears that the company intended to create early buzz and establish the movie as a big event for the week of Independence Day. With lyrics by Javed Akhtar and music by AR Rahman, the film stars Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preiti Zinta, and Karan Deol. Sunny's next project after his recent box office triumphs is Lahore 1947.

Sunny Deol's triumph with Border 2 coincides with the latest announcement. Since its January 23 release, the movie has done well at the box office. The military drama brought in about Rs 6.90 crore on its third Sunday, bringing its total domestic profits to Rs 309.4 crore, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The movie had a 21.15 per cent overall Hindi occupancy rate on February 8.

Border 2 is on track to become one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2026 and is almost at the Rs 310 crore milestone in India. Sunny Deol leads the ensemble cast in Border 2, which also includes Ahan Shetty, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh.
