It all came down to the big night, the 97th Academy Awards, following what many considered to be an exciting and surprising awards season. In an unexpected turn of events, Anora won Best Picture in the Los Angeles Awards ceremony, which was hosted by Conan O'Brien. And that's not all! Additionally, the movie won other major awards, including Best Director, Original Screenplay, and Editing, all of which went to Sean Baker. Indeed, Sean became the first person to win four Oscars in one night, making history. Star Mikey Madison defeated Demi Moore in a shocking and unexpected victory as well.

The 2015 film Tangerine, which was shot entirely on an iPhone, was a feature-length slice-of-life that followed two transgender women, both sex workers, as they went about their day taking heartbreak and discrimination on the chin and giving nothing short of blistering performances. Baker is an experienced and experimental director who should have won big at the Oscars ten years ago.

The Academy was able to share the love this year! Lol Crawley won the Oscar for Best Cinematography, while Adrien Brody won Best Actor for The Brutalist. After winning for his score, Daniel Blumberg gave a nervous and emotional speech, which was undoubtedly one of the night's most touching moments. Dune 2 won Sound and Visual Effects, while Wicked won Costume Design and Production Design. The movie's song, "El Mal," won Best Original Song, while Emilia Pérez's Zoe Saldana earned another Supporting Actress honour to her resume.

In terms of acting, it was anticipated that Kieran Culkin, who has received enough Supporting Actor honours from A Real Pain, Brody, and Saldana would win. The night's biggest surprise, though? Flow defeated The Wild Robot and Inside Out 2 to win Best Animated Feature. The actual awards ceremony was a little too lengthy. The lengthy Bond musical tribute and even Conan O'Brien's song about not wasting time will undoubtedly raise some eyebrows. Overall, the evening was enjoyable.
