This weekend, Ajay Devgn made his big-screen comeback with Son of Sardaar 2, a comedy-action film that had its official debut on Friday, August 1, 2025. Setting the groundwork for a high-profile box office fight, the movie debuted in theatres with the highly anticipated love drama Dhadak 2, which starred Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri.
Son of Sardaar 2 debuted far lower than Ajay Devgn's previous release, Raid 2, which brought in Rs 19.25 crore on the first day, despite the excitement surrounding its release. Additionally, it didn't make as much money as his horror movie Shaitaan, which debuted at Rs 14.75 crore earlier this year. The movie did, however, do better than Kajol's Maa, which made Rs 4.5 crore on its first day of release.

The film, which was directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, also has a poignant meaning because it is the last time veteran actor Mukul Dev would appear on screen. Dev passed suddenly on May 23, 2025. Fans and coworkers alike are recalling his performance in the movie as an appropriate send-off.
Sanjay Mishra, Neeru Bajwa, Vindu Dara Singh, Dolly Ahluwalia, Chunky Panday, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Roshni Walia, Sharat Saxena, and Sahil Mehta are among the many well-known characters from Bollywood and Punjabi films that make up the ensemble group. The movie was originally scheduled to open on July 25 but was postponed until August 1.
