Former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan has heaped praise on the young bowling sensation, Gurnoor Brar, who has been bowling at high speeds with good lines and lengths across different formats of the game.
Speaking on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel, Zaheer has lauded the Indian selection committee, led by Ajit Agarkar, for fast-tracking Brar into the ODI and Test squads, adding that he impressed him the most so far in his career.
“It’s good to see a young crop of fast bowlers coming through that bowl at high speeds. I believe Gurnoor Brar is the one who can have a good and lengthy career. It’s good that he has been fast-tracked. Even when I spent some time with him, I could see exciting potential in him. We have to wait and see how his career materialises eventually, but in terms of potential, he has impressed me the most,” Zaheer Khan said on Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel.
In the warm-up fixture against Sri Lankan Cricket XI, Brar scalped a wicket in the first innings. Moreover, he scored a valuable 41-run knock off 90 balls with five fours and a six. In the second innings, he went on to scalp another wicket.
Brar has been named in the Indian Test squad for the two-Test tour, which is scheduled to start on Saturday, August 15, in Galle. He is expected to make his way into the playing XI alongside Mohammed Siraj in the first Test.
