India will be hosting the West Indies for three ODIs and five T20Is in September-October 2026. The West Indies had previously visited India for two tests this year and now will play a white-ball series.
The first T20I will be played in Lucknow on October 6; the second T20I will be played on October 9 in Ranchi, and the third T20I will be played on October 11 in Indore. The last two T20Is will be played on October 14 and October 17 in Hyderabad and Bengaluru, respectively.

3. Ishan Kishan vs. Shamar Joseph

Kishan has cemented his spot at no. 3 in the Indian XI. Kishan has done well, and playing in home conditions will boost his hitting prowess.

Joseph has shown a penchant for rushing the batters with short deliveries, and Ishan Kishan, though a very good puller and hooker, still has an issue with short-pitched deliveries.
2. Shimron Hetmyer vs. Kuldeep Yadav
Shimron Hetmyer is one of the best batters in T20 cricket right now and also has an impressive T20I record with 1678 runs in 85 T20Is, with 9 fifties and a strike rate of 140.41. He has the ability to build an innings if the top order collapses, but his strength is giving a big finish to the innings. He is ruthless against both pace and spin and a true danger to India.
Kuldeep Yadav has been included in the Indian T20I side after a long time, as his last game came in the T20 World Cup 2026. Since then, he has been struggling to get game time for India. He has 95 wickets in 54 T20Is at an economy of 6.95 and best bowling figures of 5/17. He also has a good record in white-ball cricket against the West Indies and knows that Hetmyer has a weakness against good spinners.
1. Abhishek Sharma vs. Akeal Hosein
Abhishek Sharma is in red-hot form with the bat ahead of the West Indies ODI series. He scored the fastest-ever T20I ton by a batter from a full-member nation against Afghanistan and also scored a fifty in the tournament. He was equally brutal against pace and spin, and Abhishek would want to continue his brutal ways against the Windies as well.
The West Indies know that Abhishek Sharma has a bit of a flaw against spinners in powerplays, and who better than Akeal Hosein to take advantage of the same? Hosein has regularly bowled in powerplays in T20 and T20Is and will be the best option to get the dangerous Abhishek out early.
