Following the devastating Pahalgam Terrorist Attack that rocked the world, the Indian Premier League 2025 has taken significant action to strengthen stadium security. Following the horrific murder of 26 innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, April 21, the BCCI has implemented additional security precautions for the ongoing IPL 2025 competition.
This season, the airspace above cricket fields is being protected by a new technology called Vajra Super Shot. The authorities felt it was time to take action in response to growing worries about drones flying over public gatherings, particularly in the wake of recent terror acts. To improve player and spectator safety, the IPL's regulating body has taken action. In the rain-affected 44th game of the 18th league between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Eden Gardens on April 26, the unique defence system, developed by Big Bang Boom Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (BBBS) in Chennai, made its IPL debut.
Vajra Super Shot New Tech:
By utilising adaptive frequency technology, the defence system can identify drones within a four-kilometre radius. Additionally, the Vajra Super Shot is portable and lightweight. The IPL has addressed the need to improve safety at all venues in the wake of the horrific event at Pahalgam. The BCCI's move to bolster security has been hailed as tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated.
The IPL game between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens on April 26 marked the beginning of the use of Vajra Super Shot. It will now be utilised at every IPL location. The equipment is trained for use by security teams. Their primary responsibility is to continuously monitor the skies. They employ Vajra Super Shot right away to safely bring down any suspicious drones without endangering stadium patrons. This is being utilised to guarantee that games proceed uninterrupted and that officials, players, and spectators all stay safe.
