CSK has signed Urvil Patel, a 26-year-old batsman and wicketkeeper from Gujarat, to replace Bedi. Urvil recorded the fastest century by an Indian and the second-fastest in the world in Twenty20 cricket, grabbing attention with a 28-ball century against Tripura in the 2024–25 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

In his career, Patel has participated in 10 First-Class, 22 List-A, and 47 T20 matches. With two hundreds and four fifties, he has amassed 1162 runs at an impressive strike-rate of 170.38 in the shortest format. Although he didn't play a game, he was a member of the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL in the past.

Additionally, he crushed a century off 41 balls in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Urvil, Aman Khan, and Salman Nizar were invited by CSK for mid-season tryouts in Chennai on April 27 and 28, despite being passed over in the IPL 2025 mega auction. In two trial matches, the Mehsana native made an impression with scores of 41 (20) and 50 (20). Urvil, whose basic price is INR 30 lakh, will join CSK after playing for the Gujarat Titans in the 2023 league season.

Urvil Patel New Addition in CSK:

Franchise coach Stephen Fleming had said recently, hinting at more involvement for young players, says“Given that our season has been a struggle, we are always looking to review and move forward. So, while it feels like doom and gloom, we are unearthing some talent and getting some evidence together to put forward a good case for a good team next year. But we still value experience. If you look at the statistics of the tournament, you’ll see that a lot of the players who are featured are experienced players, so it’s the balance that we’re after. We’ve made some good gains in that."

Young players like Vansh Bedi have not been given opportunities because of the team's dependence on MS Dhoni, who serves as both captain and wicketkeeper. Before sustaining an injury at the last minute, Bedi, a young wicketkeeper-batter, was scheduled to make his debut against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Notably, he was later disqualified from the competition after his name was wiped out, and Deepak Hooda was substituted.
