Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporters are preparing a sentimental act to honour their hero, Virat Kohli, as the IPL 2025 prepares for its eagerly awaited return on May 17. Some home fans are urging the spectators to wear Test whites in remembrance of Kohli's illustrious red-ball career when RCB plays the Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the first game following the tournament's suspension.
On X and other social media sites, a widely shared message is urging supporters to show up wearing Test whites or even just plain white T-shirts to show Kohli how much Indian cricket fans loved him while he played in his preferred format. This follows Kohli's recent abrupt decision to hang up his boots without playing a last match.

In an homage to Kohli's legacy in Test cricket, a number of RCB supporters have posted on social media encouraging matchgoers to wear Test white jerseys or all-white attire as part of the unusual fan-led campaign. One of the most poignant tributes Indian cricket has witnessed, particularly at a Twenty20 match, may be the sight of thousands of people in white at a crowded Chinnaswamy.
When Kohli announced his Test retirement on Instagram on Monday, May 12, the cricket community was shocked. Because of his unwavering love and ambition for Test cricket, a sizable portion of fans and commentators believed Virat Kohli had much more to offer Indian cricket and should have stayed around for longer than he did.
After being momentarily postponed due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan after the horrific murder of tourists in Pahalgam, RCB will play KKR in the opening match of the 2025 Indian Premier League. The two teams also faced each other in Eden Gardens in the season opener. With 22 deliveries remaining, the RCB declared victory by a commanding seven-wicket advantage. In the end, Kohli was undefeated at 59* (36).
