The Indian Premier League 2025 mega-auction is scheduled to happen in Jeddah on November 24 and 25, respectively. Prior to that, a four-match Twenty20 International series between South Africa and India will begin on November 8. When names are put under the hammer, it allows players from both sides to demonstrate their worth in the shortest amount of time and boost their stocks.
As they get closer to a pivotal home summer in the coming months, South Africa will aim to get into a zone of form as the series begins in Durban on November 8. Markram, however, did not downplay the advantages of this series against India, saying that the South African team is aware of the advantages that could result from playing well so close to the auction.
Aiden Markram gets candid about IPL 2025:
Makram said, “I don't think it's the focus. But, as we all know, things like the auction, especially for a big tournament like the IPL, a lot of things can fall into place for players. We are fortunate to be playing a series against them, pretty much just before the auction. It happens so. That would pretty much be the bonus of doing well, firstly, collectively, and then for the individuals to put their hands up.”
The IPL auction will be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. Mihlali Mpongwana and Andile Simelane are the only two members of South Africa's 16-man team not in the auction pool, while Heinrich Klaasen and Tristan Stubbs have been kept by their respective teams. Twelve players, including captain Markram, David Miller, Gerald Coetzee, and Marco Jansen, are eager to make an impression in this series.
He further added, “I don't think it's the motivation to do well, but I think it's a bonus that potentially could follow. But, in the camp, I don't think there have been any discussions along those lines. But if guys put their hands up, and do well, it leads to more, I will certainly be really chuffed for them."
