The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved Avesh Khan to play for the Lucknow Super Giants in the 2025 Indian Premier League, which is a huge boost for the franchise. Avesh, who LSG purchased at the super auction last year for INR 9.75 crore, missed their debut match against the Delhi Capitals because he was recuperating from a right knee ailment.

Avesh Khan has received a fit certificate from the BCCI's Centre of Excellence to join the Lucknow Super Giants squad for the current IPL 2025 season. Due to a knee ailment, the pacer was reportedly missing at least three games for the squad while he recovered under the care of the BCCI medical team. On Monday, March 24, however, the 28-year-old made a full recovery and passed the medical exam.

Avesh Khan Gets the Green Signal from BCCI:

The bowler is anticipated to be available for selection for LSG's upcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27, though the precise date of Avesh's return to the club has not yet been determined. The game will be the franchise's second away game. Since January 2025, Avesh has not participated in professional cricket and has been recuperating in Bengaluru. It's unknown when the player will join the Lucknow team, despite having received clearance. It remains to be seen whether the team management will choose to include Rishabh Pant in the forthcoming match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27.

LSG's core group of Indian pace bowlers has been plagued by injuries. While Akash Deep is recovering from a back injury he sustained during the 2024–25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Mayank Yadav recently suffered a toe injury while he was rehabilitating from a lumbar stress injury. Due to anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) damage, Mohsin Khan has already been ruled out of the 2025 Indian Premier League. Shardul Thakur, an all-round seam bowler, will take his place.
