For the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has implemented a number of new rules, the primary one being limiting access to the dressing room. The BCCI has prohibited family members of players and support personnel from accessing changing rooms, including on practice days, in an effort to preserve discipline and streamline matchday procedures.

Similar to Team India this season, the BCCI mandated that all players travel to practice sessions on the team van. According to Cricbuzz, the BCCI has distributed the updated rules to each of the ten franchises and their team managers. In a recent virtual conference on February 18, all franchises and team managers received formal notice of these changes.

Regulations have always been a priority for the BCCI in order to preserve the IPL's professionalism. However, the board has taken further measures to guarantee a regulated environment due to worries over dressing room access and logistical discipline. All franchisees received an email with these new regulations, which also included changes to practice schedules, fitness requirements, and matchday dress.

New Rules in IPL 2025:

For the families of the players, the Indian Cricket Board has made another noteworthy but unexpected change. Even on practice days, family members of players and support personnel will not be allowed to enter the locker rooms starting with the forthcoming IPL 2025.

Interestingly, these regulations are comparable to those applied to Team India players during international matches. According to one of the changes, only authorized staff members are allowed in the dressing room and on the field of play on practice and game days.

Before games, the BCCI also administers limited fitness testing on the main field. In the past, team physiotherapists would assess a player's level of fitness on the field right before the game began. Additionally, the board has mandated that players wear the orange and purple caps for at least two overs during games and presentation ceremonies afterwards.

The players will not be permitted to attend post-match presentation ceremonies in sleeveless shirts. The BCCI has scheduled a face-to-face meeting with all team captains at the Cricket Centre in Mumbai on March 20 to guarantee that these new regulations are understood.
