The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off in Match 11 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season on Sunday in Guwahati. CSK chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Yashasvi Jaiswal was removed for just 4 runs off 3 balls, giving the hosts RR an early setback as they began their innings.
After losing by 6 runs in their 183-run chase against the Rajasthan Royals, the Chennai Super Kings suffered their second consecutive loss of the season due to their batting errors. CSK could not clear their backlog of top-order players, even when MS Dhoni rose to the seventh position. After Nitish Rana's explosive 81 off 36 balls, the Rajasthan Royals were only able to muster 182 for nine on the board, but their first points of the season came from the bowling genius of players like Wanindu Hasaranga and Jofra Archer.

Sandeep Sharma, who favored bowling the final over before Jofra Archer, maintained composure and pulled his team over the finish line by six runs when it came down to the final two balls, and CSK needed 11 runs. With 20 needed off the last over, MS Dhoni had the opportunity to roll back the clocks and play the finisher’s role, but he holed out at deep midwicket off the first ball. Jamie Overton kept the game alive with a six off the fourth delivery, but the last two balls only provided four more runs. With only 42 runs in the first six overs, CSK will regret their PowerPlay. Nitish Rana helped RR score 79 in that same phase, which ultimately proved to be the difference.
The Rajasthan Royals finally opened their account in the points table with their exciting victory, their first of the season in their third game. The Super Kings will try to recover from the discouraging loss in their first away game of the season against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
